Personal Reader Folders - Check!

Now that I'm finished with my reading assessments (we didn't start until after Labor Day), I am ready to give extra support to some of my struggling readers and a few students who just need a boost of confidence.

Ya know how it's not easy to find lots of books at the lowest reading levels for kids to use to practice? I use personal reader folders in my room for extra practice. You can read two old posts about my personal reader folders by clicking on the links below.

Personal Reader Folders

Short Vowel Personal Reader Stories

Here is a picture of one of my personal reader folders. I usually use scrapbook paper on the covers of plain old 3 pronged folders.

I write my own stories to use in the personal reader folders. The stories are created with easy text  patterns full of sight words and word family words.  You can find both sets in my Tpt store and my Teachers Notebook shop. You can click on the images below if you want to check them out.

I've been working on a long vowel set for a while now. I am hoping to finish it up and get it posted sometime in the next couple weeks.

I should probably go running. My husband and I are using a fitness app together to help us count calories and monitor our exercise. Unfortunately (for him), we are both very competitive and I intend the win our fitness challenge. Game on!

  1. Those look great. You have given me some ideas

  2. Love this!!!!
What app are you using? My hubs is looking for a good one . . . we used to compete. We were competing using Insanity (which is totally insane!!!) when we found out about my heart condition. Mainly because I thought I was having a heart attack and didn't really care because I wanted to beat him. Turns out I WAS going to have a heart attack. But anyways, I get you. Totally. :)

    1. Oh my! I remember reading about that. Guess you'll skip the fitness competitions from now on, huh? We're using My Fitness Pal. Being able to scan the bar code makes counting calories so much easier.

  3. I bought these last year and they are great for my struggling readers! I can't wait for the long vowel ones.

    1. Hi Barbara,

So glad you liked them! I'm trying to finish up the long vowel ones between soccer, dance, football and oh yeah ...teaching. :) Hoping to get them posted soon.

  4. I'm having a fall linky party/sale on Sept 22. Come link up and join the sale!

  5. What a great idea!! I teach second grade, but this would be great for my low, low struggling readers!

  6. I finally had time to listen to your webinar on Struggling Reaaders! So many great ideas! I am anxious to try some right away. Its's funny how hearing about something reminds you that you have some of that stuff already, but have forgotten about it.Made a list! I love your blog too. I teach 1&2 grade in a very small rural school. We have 60 kids with 4 teachers and I have 19 in my room. Excited to try some new things.Thank you!
